THE INSPIRATION
Ikat weaves
The word ikat comes from the Malay-Indonesian mengikat, meaning to tie or to bind a name inspired by the process. It follows an ancient resist-dyeing technique, seen in various parts of the world, where threads are first dyed individually, revealing a pattern only when they are woven together. The intricate patterns and vibrant colors of Ikat weaves become a metaphor for the power of lives intertwining.
